If You Want to Add a Pool to Your Home, You’ll Have to Wait in the Deep End

Local businesses that install pools have a long list of customers — including one that’s 175 people deep — waiting to have them built, writes Jen Samuel for the Daily Local News

It’s not just the lack of materials, which dates back to the beginning of the pandemic, that is causing the backlog.

“We’ve been sold out for 2022 for about a year,” said Pati Gritz of Gritz Pools & Spas in West Caln. “Every supplier in the pool industry is having different issues. For us, it’s not really the suppliers that are holding us up — it’s help. We can’t get help to build the pools.”

With warmer temperatures on the horizon and homeowners spending more time at home, interest in luxuries like a pool rises.

Supply issues include a lack of salt systems, chlorine, algaecide, variable speed pumps, and more.

“I’m not sure when things will go back to normal, or when they will recoup the losses, but we’re definitely hoping sooner than later, for sure,” said Lindsay Nask of Aquathority Pools & Spa in West Chester.
