Montgomery County Community College Students Hosting ‘Moving For Medicine’ 5K/1-Mile Walk for CHOP
Join Montgomery County Community College students, faculty and staff as they run for a reason this month: creating a brighter future for children with Moving For Medicine.
Exercise Science and Wellness (ESW) students will host a weeklong virtual 5K run and 1-mile walk to benefit Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), April 23-May 1.
Students will also host a 1-mile in-person walk on Wednesday, April 27 at 11:15 a.m. starting at the Health Sciences Center Courtyard on Blue Bell Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell.
Each semester ESW students organize a community event to benefit a non-profit organization. This semester students chose to support CHOP, as the medical center has made an impact on the lives of ESW students and faculty.
This project allows students to gain experience organizing an event from planning to the day of participation.
“We would love for you to join the students to run or walk to benefit CHOP,” said Exercise Science and Wellness Professor Anne Livezey. “Virtually run your 5K or walk 1 mile at home, in a park, or on your favorite trail the week of April 23 – May 1.”
Participants are encouraged to submit their running or walking time and see how they stack up against other runners and walkers. The suggested donation for participating is $5 or $1 per kilometer. Any amount is appreciated though and goes directly to CHOP.
“Together we’re building a brighter future for children,” said Livezey.
