Phila. and its suburbs have rated highly for being an attractive environment for work-at-home employees.

The work-from-home (WFH) revolution is showing no signs of fading, with a quarter of Americans still working exclusively from their houses and apartments. And Philadelphia has a lot to offer them, according to a new ranking from PCMag.

The City of Brotherly Love ranked in fourth place among the best WFH cities for 2022. It is the top-rated large city on the list. This is a significant improvement over last year, when Philadelphia was at No. 11.

The city combines affordable housing, culture, and good internet connection with a traditional urban vibe. It offers residences that range from glittering condos to calm neighborhoods, an eclectic restaurant scene, and good public transit.

Zach Honig, director of content and loyalty at Cardless, moved from New York to Philadelphia and is now enjoying the benefits of telecommuting.

“My fiancé and I both had studio apartments in New York, and now we have a fantastic three-bedroom house,” he said. “And the mortgage and taxes are barely more than the rent each of us was paying for our studios in New York.”

Philadelphia also gets bonus points for multiple suburbs that have plenty to offer WFH crews.
