Lucas Francis, an 18-year-old North Penn High School student, has managed to sharpen his bowling skills enough to break the state record and tie a national one as well, writes Matteo Iadonisi for 6abc.

During his senior year, Francis was able to average 243 pins knocked down across 42 games, beating the previous Pennsylvania state record average of 239.1, according to the U.S. High School Bowling Foundation.

He also tied the national record of an 867-point high in a three-game series at the start of March.

“It’s repetition,” Lucas Francis said. “Just doing it over and over again, working on my game step by step. And I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my coach or my team or anything like that.”

Next week, the teen is hoping to secure a singles state championship title during a competition that is going to be held in Lancaster.

He also plans to continue playing once he transfers to college.

“He’s always helping out kids, making them confident as they go,” said Coach Don “Saddle” Stadnycki. “And his future is just going to flourish to no end.”
