The Early Childhood Education (ECE) program at Harcum College received official notice of reaccreditation for a full seven-year term through 2026 by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

The notification letter recognized the program for the alignment of assessments such as student instructions and rubrics with 2020 Professional Standards and Competencies, among other strengths.

The reaccreditation comes at an ideal time for the program, which has expanded into an evening cohort in Bryn Mawr, and is now the most highly enrolled Partnership Site program. It offers evening-only classes for those who have busy schedules during the day.

Experts believe that early instruction for children is critical because it helps establish a strong educational foundation for children during their developmental years. Therefore, the ECE program creates professional, caring teachers ready to take on any responsibility.

Harcum College also participates in supervised field experiences where students learn firsthand how to properly care for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children.

The associate’s degree-granting program at Harcum is under the direction of Dr. Joanne Ricevuto and Assistant Director Christine Carlson.
