Students in Immaculata University’s fashion merchandising program are sponsoring a fashion show, Under the Stars, on Saturday, April 2 from 6:30 to 9 PM in the Great Hall. The fashion show is a fundraiser to support high school students who cannot afford to buy a prom dress or a ticket to their prom.

The evening features prom dresses from David’s Bridal’s 2022 prom dress collection, coats by Deborah Ann Mack Fashion, formal African cultural garments worn by members of Immaculata’s African American Cultural Society, and original designs made by Immaculata fashion merchandising students.

Light refreshments will be served, and live music performed by students from the Immaculata Music Department. Participants can also explore the vendor tables and visit the editorial exhibition room to experience college-level fashion merchandising projects and interact with Immaculata’s fashion students.

“As president of the Immaculata Fashion Group, I am so proud of our students who work tirelessly to make this event a success for those participating and those benefitting. Everyone deserves to have the prom of their dreams, and we are so grateful that we get to help them achieve this,” said Maeve Touhey, a junior majoring in Fashion Merchandising.

Sponsors for the event are the Immaculata Fashion Group, the Immaculata Fashion Merchandising Program, the African American Cultural Society, David’s Bridal, Deborah Ann Mack Fashion, and the Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students.

“As many parents know, prom night can be an expensive evening, but it should also be a magical experience for high school students. For four years, Immaculata’s fashion merchandising students have organized a fashion show to help these students enjoy their special night and not worry about the expense,” said Lina Castro, director of Immaculata’s Fashion Merchandising Program.

Students in Immaculata’s fashion merchandising program can earn a career-focused degree tailored to fit their needs. The multidisciplinary curriculum integrates the creative process with business principles. During each year of studies, students gain exposure to the fashion industry and participate in hands-on experiences within the field.
