Montgomery County Community College invites applications for the Director of Campus Safety, College-Wide Blue Bell, Pottstown, and Lansdale campuses position and the Custodial Supervisor position.

Director of Campus Safety

The Director of Campus Safety provides the organizational vision to steer the Department through a time of evolving expectations and maintains a commitment to campus safety, a strong student orientation, and a focus on customer service and quality.

The Director is responsible for providing a safe environment that allows students and staff to have access and success at the Blue Bell, Pottstown Campuses and the Culinary Arts Institute.

The position applies interpersonal skills to work effectively with members of the campus community, is able to effectively navigate within both the College and law enforcement environments, and successfully builds bridges and relationships with students, trustees, staff, faculty and external constituencies.

This position is responsible for oversight and management of the College’s Campus Safety operations, including the contracted security officer organization at the Pottstown Campus, College emergency response and management plans, the training and professional development associated with campus safety functional areas, and protection of College assets.

The incumbent must be forward-thinking about diagnosing, designing and delivering a range of programs, policies, and initiatives that are parallel to industry best practices, adding or modifying training, and maintaining the College’s accountability for providing a climate of safety and security to students, staff and visitors.  In this role the incumbent works closely with the VP of Engagement and Student Experience relative to Student Judicial Code of Conduct.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training/Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) and a minimum of 8 years relevant experience in Public Safety (at least 5 years in a command role preferred).
  • Progressively responsible leadership experience in a combination of safety, environmental health, security, emergency planning, and related functional areas, preferably in the higher education sector and preferably in a multi-location environment required.
  • Certification as a Municipal Police Officer or graduation from a Municipal Police Academy required.
  • Certification in First Aid/CPR/BBP/AED at the Basic Life Support Level preferred; must be willing to get certified.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of local, state and federal civil and criminal law as it relates to the Campus Safety function.
  • Familiarity with Life Safety Codes (i.e. Occupational Safety and Health Administration, National Fire Protection Association).
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Internet, e-mail, database, spreadsheet, and word processing and presentation experience.
  • Ability to lead, listen, influence and impact others, participate in and facilitate group meetings, and work as part of a team to reach consensus and achieve goals.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, understand how decisions fit within the overall College agenda, and navigate through the strategic environment.
  • Knowledge of investigative management as it pertains to incidents and personnel.
  • Conflict management and negotiation skills required.

Custodial Supervisor

Montgomery County Community College invites applications for the Custodial Supervisor position. The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for the cleaning, sanitizing and related aesthetics for College buildings and related properties or interests. Executes directives from the Manager for the setup and breakdown of classes, activities, meetings and special events, including Facility Use to outside organizations. 

Assists College personnel by providing logistics for event setups and guidance on the availability of staff and accessories. Supports College functions at all College locations with regard to climate neutrality, as a matter of conscience. Also oversees special projects, as assigned by College leadership as they relate to items, such as recycling, or disposal of non-typical waste. With the Manager, adjusts schedules to provide the necessary leadership to all staff on all shifts (the Custodial operation is a 24hr/360 day operation). Schedules and supervises staff seven days per week, and all hours. Functions as a working supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training/Work Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required: Associate Degree preferred.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years’ experience in building cleaning/maintenance: at least one (1) year of which was in a custodial supervisory capacity, including planning & scheduling of work.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Must pass the pre-employment drug testing requirements, and submit to the PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Clearance, and the FBI Fingerprinting Clearance.
  • Must be willing to travel between campuses as well as work nights, weekends, and holidays based on college need. This includes weather emergencies, utility failures, or hazards to life or property. Works with Manager, Assistant Director, and Director to restore campus from hazard or failure in the safest, most expeditious manner possible.
