Montgomery County Community College invites applications for the Human Resources Employment Coordinator position, Human Resources Generalist position, and Staff Grants Accountant.

Human Resources Employment Coordinator

The Human Resources Employment Coordinator provides assistance in a broad range of administrative duties to the Human Resources department. These duties consist of support in the areas of Recruiting, Onboarding, Compensation, and other HR functions as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of two years of office work experience required, preferably in a human resources environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Power Point and Other MS Office products required.
  • Experience working with Colleague or another HRIS system preferred.
  • Ability to display high degree of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced environment.

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for HR-related duties and projects in support of the Human Resources Office. This position is responsible for administering, implementing, and/or assisting with a variety of human resources functions, including but not limited to, the full life-cycle of employees within assigned divisions/departments, benefits and compensation, FMLA/medical leave and workers’ compensation, and  employee relations. This position serves as a point of contact for HR-related questions from managers and employees of assigned divisions/departments and is responsible for providing a high level of customer service to the College community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Two to three years of experience in Human Resources required. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP and/or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of all Federal, State and local laws regarding employment, recruitment
  • Understands how to navigate within an educational institution, knows the available resources, and can organize a program to effectively fulfill the College’s needs
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills; effective communicator.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, HRIS, Internet, email, database, spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation experience.

Staff Grants Accountant

The Staff Grants Accountant is responsible for assisting the Senior Grants Accountant with the overall financial coordination and day-to-day management of all externally funded grants, contracts, and restricted funds including all accounting and reporting functions, assuring regulatory compliance with all applicable federal, state and private grant-funded programs.  The Staff Grants Accountant will be responsible for the management of monthly invoicing and reconciliation of all grants. Additionally, the Staff Grants Accountant would be responsible for assisting the Budget team with the grant budgeting process during certain times of the year.  Lastly, the position will perform general staff accounting functions related to state reporting, management financial reporting and the year-end audit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training/Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
  • Experience in higher education work environment with specific emphasis in grant accounting is desirable.
  • Four years of accounting experience sufficient to demonstrate knowledge of accounting procedures and regulations is required.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills:

  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft products including Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. 
  • Ability to train others
