DeSales University Upcoming One Credit Class: Managing Change—Define Your Role and Responsibilities in Leading

This one-credit class, Managing Change, explores and trains leaders on how to introduce change, overcome resistance to change, and facilitate open and honest change communication, in order to implement changes with a minimum amount of conflict and reduced periods of low productivity.

Course Objectives

  • Explain the nature and various aspects of change.
  • Define your role and responsibilities in leading a change effort.
  • Explain the skills, qualities, and characteristics of effective change leaders.
  • Recognize the importance of change models as roadmaps for implementing change.
  • Identify the impact change has on employees, you, and the organization.
  • Recognize ways people respond to change.
  • Identify ways you can influence change at every level of the organization.
  • Identify symptoms of resistance to change.
  • Identify reasons people resist change.
  • Develop a plan for dealing with employee resistance.
  • Develop a plan for communicating change.
  • Use a process for presenting change to employees.
  • Select appropriate strategies for dealing with different employee responses.
  • Use tools and techniques to help you manage and lead change.
  • Employ strategies to become more resilient.
  • Develop a personal action plan to guide you in leading change.

Course Requirements

  • Identify a change you are going to implement in your organization. This forms the basis of your assignments.
  • Watch recorded lecture.
  • Participate in online discussions. Post at least 4 days a week.
  • Complete all activities and assignments.
  • Participate in weekly webinar.
  • Complete your Learning Log.

This class is offered via Zoom on Saturday, February 19, 9 am – 1 pm, and Saturday, March 5, 9 am – 1 pm.

Cost for the 1 credit workshop is $880.
