Microshare, a smart building sensor tech startup co-founded by Ron Rock, a Lansdale Catholic High School graduate, raised $15 million from Marc Lasry’s Avenue Capital Group, writes Kennedy Rose for The Business Journals.

The Philadelphia-based company develops sensors that track factors such as building occupancy, environmental monitoring, contact tracing, and indoor asset zoning.

The platform provides data to commercial building operators that allows them to track energy consumption, the frequency at which the building is cleaned, and more.

The company concentrates its business in commercial real estate, such as hospitals, office buildings, and universities.

Rock is projecting 200 percent year-over-year revenue growth for 2021 and anywhere between 150 and 200 percent revenue growth in 2022.

The platform has been in high demand over the last two years as a result of what Rock called the perfect storm: COVID-19, the Great Resignation, and corporate ESG initiatives.

“I look at the prospects for Microshare over the next three years, and we are finally – after almost nine years – we’re at the right place at the right time,” said Rock. “We’re that nine-year overnight success story.”
