Shoppers have returned to the King of Prussia Mall in full force, driving sales above pre-pandemic levels and cementing its position as one of the most successful retail centers in the country, writes Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The mall saw its foot traffic ebb and flow throughout the year in response to the COVID-19 vaccine and the delta variant, but it has come back strong first for back-to-school and now for holiday shopping as well.

“Traffic has returned but sales have far exceeded 2019,” said Bob Hart, general manager at King of Prussia Mall.

He added that the current occupancy, which was 92.4 percent at the end of 2020, is back at pre-pandemic numbers.

So far this year, one of the nation’s largest malls has added 40 new retailers and restaurants.

More tenants are also expected next year, including several more luxury retailers.

“A lot of these luxury deals take some time to get done,” said Hart. “They like to be with other luxury tenants. Success breeds success and they want to be part of it.”
