Blue Bell-based The Columbus Organization, the leading provider of services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and behavioral health challenges, has been acquired by CareSource, a nonprofit managed care organization, writes Erhardt Preitauer for Yahoo Finance.

The organization serves more than 100,000 individuals across 13 states through its three business lines, including Care Coordination, Professional Clinical Staffing, and Quality Improvement Services.

It has more than 580 employees and helped more than 140 state and local agencies nationwide to solve staffing and programmatic problems.

“Becoming part of CareSource is an exciting milestone for the company and is a testament to the unmatched quality, innovation, and passion that the company has consistently delivered to the individuals, families, and organizations we serve,” said Jeff Klimaski, CEO, The Columbus Organization.

Combining the strengths of these two organizations as they follow the same mission “sets us on a trajectory for exponential growth over the next few years and will enable us to bring our person-centered approach to more people,” he added.

The healthcare company will continue to operate as a standalone company within CareSource and its employees will continue to work as employees of The Columbus Organization.
