Man working with three computers.

The pandemic has made many employees prioritize job security when deciding where they want to work so they don’t have to worry about layoffs again. Technology has always been an in-demand field and it has proven quite resilient from the economic hardships of Covid. Now many want to make the switch to tech.

If you are one such person, you likely have been curious about where the best salaries are. Courtesy of the Global Tech Council here are 2021’s top-paying careers in technology, so you can effectively plan your next career move.

Product Manager

This role puts you in charge of much of the process behind helping products succeed. That includes managing the company budget, taking an active role in product development, and generally being the lead for any problems that arise. $100,000 is a typical salary for this profession.

Cybersecurity Specialist

As technology becomes further ingrained into each aspect of our lives, it also grants criminals further opportunities to intrude on our privacy. Working to protect companies from such tactics will generally earn you close to $135,000 per year.

Software Architect

Put your programmer skills to use by designing new software based on the needs your organization is facing. You will evaluate the room for improvement in your company and recommend tools that could feasibly be implemented in response. This comes with an average salary of about $115,000.

Data Scientist

For the highest overall typical salary, you can’t do better than a data scientist, who typically earns around $150,000. You will need to learn how to code and create algorithms so that you can scrutinize data and information for organizations that will help them advance their cause.

Blockchain Engineer

With cryptocurrency seeing more widespread usage, it becomes more important to have people willing to work with the blockchains that act as the record-keeping system for digital expenditures. Blockchains are also proving versatile in other capacities, leading to current tech companies being willing to pay in the vicinity of $110,000 for experts.

Internet of Things (IoT) Solutions Architect

The internet of things refers to items we use that have the capacity to be controlled by internet-connected devices. Examples would be security systems, automatic lights, temperature control systems, and so on. Ensuring these devices function optimally is one of the higher-paying tech jobs at around $130,000.

Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Artificial intelligence is constantly advancing and gaining more capabilities, so strong programmers are needed to push that technology even further in its uses. Those who specialize in AI can expect to earn about $110,000 annually.

Cloud Architect

Much of our important data is no longer stored on physical devices and is instead managed digitally. Securing, protecting, and improving upon those systems we rely on is an important duty that pays about $107,000 in salary.

Full-Stack Developer

If coding, scripting, and web design is more your forte, you might want to become a full-stack developer where you will put those skills to use optimizing the functionality of company websites. Your skills in this area can earn you $106,000 a year.

DevOps Architect

This is another avenue to take for those with coding skills, this time applying that ability towards tasks like IT, and software testing. You will need a keen eye for not only how to make something functional but also how to make it more efficient. $120,000 is the ballpark salary for this job.

Of course, this is only a sampling of the tech careers out there for you. The field as a whole is staying strong, so if any of these professions pique your interest, definitely see what else is out there in tech.

As mentioned previously, stability is important right now, and salary certainly is as well, but you also want to enjoy your work.
