COVID-19 Update: Over 500 New Cases Reported in Montgomery County During September 4-8, 2021
Montgomery County reported 532 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the last 4 days (September 4-8th) bringing the total number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases to 63,892 countywide since March 7, 2020.
There are currently 118 people hospitalized in Montgomery County hospitals due to severe COVID-19 symptoms. Of those COVID-19 patients, 10 people are on ventilators.
There were 4 new COVID-19 deaths reported in Montgomery County during September 4-8th, 2021.
The current total deaths are numbered at 1,348 in Montgomery County, since March 7, 2020.

Vaccine Information
- The COVID-19 vaccine is available for everyone age 16 and over who lives or works in Montgomery County, as well as the Pfizer vaccine for teens aged 12-15.

Pennsylvania COVID-19 Update of New Positive Cases
The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 4,391 new positive cases of COVID-19 over the last week, bringing the statewide total to 1,329,111 cases.
There are 2,010 people currently hospitalized due to severe COVID-19 symptoms, with 496 of those people in intensive care.
As of September 8th, 2021, there were 38 new COVID-19 deaths reported across the state, bringing the State’s total death registry to 28,446.
Vaccine highlights
Federal data representing all 67 counties:
- According to the CDC, as of Tuesday, Sept. 7, Pennsylvania ranks 5th among all 50 states for total doses administered.
- According to the CDC, as of Tuesday, Sept. 7, 66.6% of Pennsylvanians age 18 and older are fully vaccinated.

- Pennsylvania’s vaccine dashboard was updated on Friday, July 9 to more accurately reflect the number of people who are partially and fully vaccinated in each county outside of Philadelphia, along with demographics of those receiving vaccine. - Vaccine providers have administered 12,349,956 total vaccine doses, including 46,701 additional doses authorized for people who are immunocompromised, as of Wednesday, Sept. 8.
- 6,020,480 people are fully vaccinated; with 17,717 vaccinations administered since yesterday and a seven-day moving average of more than 16,700 people per day receiving vaccinations.
The department continues to urge Pennsylvanians to follow CDC guidance for wearing a mask where required by law, rule, and regulations, including healthcare, local business and workplace guidance.
For the protection of themselves and others, individuals who have not yet been vaccinated or are partially vaccinated are still encouraged to wear a mask when in public. CDC also recommends all individuals wear a mask indoors in public if they are in an area of substantial or high transmission.
There are 205,312 individuals who have a positive viral antigen test and are considered probable cases.
There are 5,214,430 individuals who have tested negative to date.
For the protection of themselves and others, individuals who have not yet been vaccinated or are partially vaccinated, are still encouraged to wear a mask when in public.
Stay well:
- Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
- Cover any coughs or sneezes with your elbow, not your hands.
- Clean surfaces frequently.
- Stay home to avoid spreading COVID-19, especially if you are unwell.
- If you must go out, please wear a mask when in a business or where it is difficult to maintain proper social distancing.
