2021 Montco Millennial Superstar: Megan Wentzel
As the Vice President, Commercial Banking of Truist (formerly BB&T) Megan “Meg” Wentzel is most proud of her promotion into a relationship management role during a challenging time.
Moving into her new role throughout a drastic change, she is now able to better serve and have a direct influence in her community as a local lender.
“I had always wanted to become a lender; however, this was in the same time period when my predecessor bank was acquired by my current institution; having the ability to overcome a lot of change—new bank, new role, new team, new processes—while maintaining and creating new clients was quite an achievement,” Wentzel explained.
Megan Wentzel credits Terry Brewer, a former boss, and mentor, in having the largest impact on her work as he took a leap of faith in her ability to take on problems during a stressful and chaotic period of change.
“He challenged me daily, taught me most of what I know in the commercial real estate finance space, and never doubted my ability to have a positive influence in the community both personally and professionally,” she notes.
Megan received a Business Management and Economics degree from Washington College in Chestertown, MD, and a Masters in Accounting and Financial Management from Keller Graduate School of Management.
Megan Wentzel enjoys living and working in Montgomery County: ‘I selfishly love living here for the outdoor parks, brewpubs, and restaurants. I’m never bored finding a new venue,” she says. “In addition, working here has been a delight with the same access to those venues, but having the ability to meet the creative minds behind those businesses as well.”
A variety of sponsorship opportunities for the MONTCO Millennial Superstars event in August are available.
