Five years after Doc Magrogan’s closed in downtown West Chester, residents once again have a place where they can enjoy fresh seafood as part of a top-tier dining experience, writes Ed Williams for Main Line Today.

Alfredo Giannaccari, a native of Italy, has opened Greystone Oyster Bar on Church Street, near his other local venture, Mercato.

“I simply love the energy of West Chester,” he said. “The people here support local businesses, and they really enjoy dining out.”

The eatery is set in an 1860s-era building with historically accurate interior and sleek architecture.

The place boasts an onsite microbrewery installed on the underground floor with a six-barrel system overseen by Scott Morrison, an award-winning brewer. Church St. and Munich Dunkel are among the house lagers.

The food menu offers both single-serve and shareable options. There is a rotating selection of Mystic, Stormy Bay, and Wellfleet oysters, along with Cherrystone clams from Virginia.

Diners can order whole chilled lobsters as an individual dinner, part of the Greystone Seafood Tower, or a clambake for two.

Other highlights include fish and chips, well-stocked cioppino, and rich lobster rolls.
