Chester County Natives Bound for Tokyo After Being Named to U.S. Olympic Rowing Team

Kennett Square native Justin Best and Malvern native Julian Venonsky are bound for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Best, a graduate of Unionville High School and Drexel University, and Venonsky, a product of Malvern Prep and the University of California, Berkeley, have been named to the U.S. Olympic Team in rowing.

The Olympic Games will begin on July 23 and run through Aug. 9. Rowing events are tentatively scheduled for the morning of July 23. Best and Venonsky will compete in the Men’s Eight event.

Strafford native Nick Mead, who attended Episcopal Academy and Princeton University, is also on Team USA.

The three of them train in Oakland, Calif.

Best is employed as a Business Analyst at Splunk, technology company in San Francisco that produces software for searching, monitoring, and analyzing machine-generated data via a Web-style interface.

Venonsky is currently a student in the Winemaking Certificate program within the Department of Viticulture & Enology at the University of California, Davis.

Meanwhile, Mead works in marketing for Plan, Inc., a Bay Area company that builds software and uses artificial intelligence to help teams execute projects and save time.
