Looking for a new hobby? Disc golf might be right up your alley, especially since one of the best spots in the Philadelphia region to play this growing sport is right here in Montgomery County, writes Nick Vadala for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Disc golf is a cross between Frisbee and golf. Instead of golf balls and clubs, players use specialized discs. However the objective remains the same, to make it from the tee to the target in as few plays as possible. In this case, the target is a basket.

If you want to give it a try, head out to Fort Washington State Park. The playground began almost two decades ago as a nine-hole course but has since been upgraded to 18 holes.

The play area is challenging and moderately woodsy, with two baskets per hole – one short and one long. The course has plenty of ways to play and offers many new challenges as your skill improves.

But be sure to take your time, as you can easily lose your disc in the underbrush if you veer off course.
