To many, the George King Athletic Stadium at Strath Haven Middle School is a welcome addition to Nether Providence.
But to a couple living directly behind it, the constant noise, lights and trash are a dangerous daily intrusion, writes Chris O’Connell for fox29.com.
The stadium activity has kept Marcia Levitsky and husband George up at night for years. It led them to file suit against the Wallingford Swarthmore School District in 2017.
“This was our last resort, both of us now have heart conditions. where the stress can literally can kill us, and aside from that we would like to live,” Marcia said.
Amongst their evidence, a collection of sports balls, bottles and debris tossed at their house.
“We can’t go out in the yard for fear we are going to be out in the hit from an object thrown from the bleachers,” George explained.
They built their home in 1979 before the stadium was there.
The Levitsky’s want the home bleachers relocated away from their property. They’ve also asked for limits on when teams and marching bands can play.
An school district attorney considers the stadium and band a community asset, pointing out the district is exempt from local noise ordinances.
