March 23rd Update: COVID-19 Cases on the Rise Again; Nearly 50K Total Positive Cases Recorded in Montgomery County

Montgomery County reported 388 new positive cases of COVID-19 as of Monday, March 22th, 2021, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 49,519 countywide since March 7, 2020.

We now have been tracking COVID-19 for a full year in our area, and across the state.

There are currently 133 people hospitalized in Montgomery County hospitals due to severe COVID-19 symptoms (an increase from last report). Of those COVID-19 patients, 12 are on ventilators, which is an increase since the last report.

There are 10 new COVID-19 deaths reported in Montgomery County since Friday’s report. The current total deaths are numbered at 1,254 in Montgomery County, since March 7, 2020.

In Montgomery County, 129,280 people have been partially vaccinated, and 81,489 have been fully vaccinated.

In Pennsylvania, approximately 4,311,118 vaccines have been administered.

  • The Pennsylvania Department of Health has released a map that highlights all the locations that are providing the COVID-19 vaccine in Montgomery County to those who are eligible within the first phase of the state’s rollout plan.
  • Due to the limited supply of vaccine at this time, only people who qualify for Phase 1A will be given appointments.

Pennsylvania COVID-19 Update:
The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 3,920 new positive cases of COVID-19 on March 22th, 2021, bringing the statewide total to 988,435.

There are 1,554 people currently hospitalized due to severe COVID-19 symptoms (an increase from last report), with 320 of those people in intensive care, an increase from last report.

There were 15 new COVID-19 deaths reported across the State (a decrease from last report), bringing the State’s total death registry to 24,789.

Stay well:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Cover any coughs or sneezes with your elbow, not your hands.
  • Clean surfaces frequently.
  • Stay home to avoid spreading COVID-19, especially if you are unwell.
  • If you must go out, you are required to wear a mask when in a business or where it is difficult to maintain proper social distancing.

COVID-19 Testing in Montgomery County
Montgomery County’s testing sites are by appointment only. Register online or call 610-970-2937, and are self-administered.

Additional Information
Mask-wearing is required in all businesses and whenever leaving home. Consistent mask-wearing is critical to preventing the spread of COVID-19.

COVID-19 contact tracing efforts are ongoing and are critical to slowing the spread of the disease. The County has partnered with ACLAMO, Family Services of Montgomery County, Montgomery County OIC, and Visiting Nurses Association Community Services to help with contact tracing efforts.

Individuals who have been tested or identified as a direct contact of an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 and has received a call from any of our community partners may return the call to 610.278.5923 to find out their results or status. All information discussed on the call is strictly confidential and is only used to trace COVID-19 cases.
