Consumers nowadays strive to be more conscious of where their dollars are going, which is part of why the Plymouth Meeting Mall owner PREIT is giving customers more information to know when they are supporting Black-owned businesses.

As reported by Mason Cash for Stupid Dope, PREIT’s websites for their malls are now listing what stores at their locations are offering services and products from Black businesspeople. This step now makes it easier for customers to support Black brands in a tangible way.

Furthermore, PREIT is going to host community-wide showcases to further amplify what Black businesses are in the area for people to patronize.

PREIT’s CEO, Joseph F. Coradino, had the following to say regarding the plan, “The past year has been challenging for many retailers, but Black-owned businesses have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. Consumers can now make even more informed buying decisions that will directly support Black entrepreneurs in our community.”

Many companies and businesses make their own efforts during Black History Month to support equality and diversity. However, customers will no doubt be happy to see a change like this from PREIT that will go beyond February and will continue to demonstrate support for Black businesses throughout the year.

“Our properties are the heartbeat of their communities,” said Coradino, “and we strive to offer an experience as diverse as our customer base and enable our guests to make better-informed buying decisions while always supporting our tenancy at large.”

Some of the more prominent Black-owned businesses to be found at the Plymouth Meeting Mall include the likes of NKO Foundation, Phoenix Beautiquee, and My SZN Accessories.
