While the number of cases have continued to decrease over the past two weeks, Montgomery County still remains at a very high risk level for the coronavirus, according to The New York Times.

The numbers of hospitalized patients and COVID-19-related deaths in that period fell once again.

Still, the test positivity rate remained very high, suggesting that the number of cases may be undercounted.

In the last two weeks, an average of 300 cases per day were reported in the county, which is roughly the same as the average two weeks ago. Since the start of the outbreak, approximately one in 16 residents have been infected, totaling 50,615 reported cases.

So far, December remains the month with the highest number of reported cases in Montgomery County.

Meanwhile, the average I.C.U. occupancy was at 81 percent as of February 4, falling slightly compared to the previous week.

However, the rate of cases in Montgomery County is still in line with those of the neighboring counties, most of which are also at a very high risk level.
