Montgomery County Congresswoman Madeleine Dean is getting ready to prosecute the impeachment case against President Donald Trump in Senate, writes Julia Terruso for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Dean will be one of nine impeachment managers who have been chosen by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to present the argument made by the House on why Trump should be convicted.

“The first impeachment was serious and grievous and amounted to high crimes and misdemeanors against our country, but this one is so much worse,” said Dean. “So it’s … an extraordinary solemn honor. I feel it is a duty to our country. It’s a responsibility to do the job well.”

Dean is a second-term Democrat from Jenkintown who represents Pennsylvania’s 4th Congressional District. She was elected in 2018 as part of a blue wave that brought several Pennsylvania Democratic women to Capitol Hill.

Prior to going into politics, Dean was a lawyer with a law practice in Glenside. She now sits on the powerful House Judiciary Committee.

And while currently there does not appear to be sufficient Republican support in the Senate to convict the president, she is “confident we will prevail.”
