Prominent interior designer Lauren Wylonis explores Main Line estates in her new book, At Home with KingsHaven: Estates, Interiors, Landscapes, writes Kristin Detterline for Philadelphia Style.

The owner of Paoli’s KingsHaven, a posh lighting and design showroom, offers a peek inside mesmerizing properties along the Main Line, both new and historic.

This coffee-table book features photography by Joshua McHugh.

Within its richly illustrated 236 pages, Wylonis details her restoration and new-build projects, such as estates designed by renowned Philadelphia architects William Lightfoot Price and Bissell & Sinkler.

However the book makes it clear that while contemporary furnishings and finishes abound, it is the original elements, such as beam ceilings, decorative plasterwork, and stained-glass windows, that are still the main stars of residences to this day.

Wylonis, who raised her children on the Main Line, has always had a passion for preserving and giving new life to the original craftsmanship of older homes.

“Renovation and modernization of these properties in a way that is respectful but meets the functional needs of family life can create properties of distinction, texture, and stunning beauty,” she said.
