Tina Fey on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon: ‘I’m a SEPTA Bitch’
Tina Fey’s a “SEPTA bitch.”
That’s how she described herself to Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show” Thursday., writes Michaela Winberg for billypenn.com.
Being from Upper Darby, SEPTA of course would have figured in Tina Fey’s transportation plans.
She’s only just purchased her first car. In Upper Darby where Fey grew up, she went around on buses, subways and trolleys.
SEPTA officials appreciated her endorsement, mostly.
“Not sure our comms team will approve ‘I’m a SEPTA bitch’ as our new tagline,” SEPTA general manager Leslie Richards tweeted, “but loved hearing her talk.”
Richards has been head of SEPTA since January.
Fey’s support comes during a tough year for SEPTA.
Ridership’s down to 30 percent. The state is talking about pulling funding and service cuts may loom if finances can’t be tuned around.
Richard is open to a re-brand.
“I’m a SEPTA bitch” could be a slight improvement over “We’re getting there,” a slogan used at SEPTA from the 1980s to late 1990s.
It was supposed to highlight SEPTA’s infrastructure improvements, but some interpreted it as a failure to stay on schedule.
That slogan was dropped in the mid-90s and “Serious About Change” came in for about a decade.
