Harcum College’s New Online Certificate Courses Offer Personal Enrichment
Responding to the surge of interest in home design and a pivot to online operations and sales amidst the pandemic, Harcum College’s Department of Professional Studies is offering two new certificates, beginning in January, that can be acquired in synchronous, fully online studies.
Harcum’s Interior Design Program is launching a feng shui certificate course that offers the opportunities to recharge personally, beautify your home, and sample the college’s interior design degree program. This semester-long course, taught by Interior Design Program Director Heidi Techner, explores the ancient Chinese practice that uses design to enhance physical, mental, and emotional health, setting students on a course of positivity and prosperity.
Topics will include the five elements (water, wood, fire, earth, metal), Yin and Yang (balance and harmony), and the flow of Ch’i (cosmic energy), with the goal to carefully examine ways to realistically create a healthier, more fulfilling environment within homes and workspaces during (and after) the pandemic. Visit the feng shui course page for more information or to register.
The Business Management Program has scheduled an exciting Social Media Marketing (SSM) certificate course that features a real-world simulation tool, along with proven marketing and advertising techniques to bring about online business success.
This seven-week course taught by adjunct business professor Don Miksit, Chief Operating Officer & Media Director of M Shop 360, will start in January and will be held two evenings per week. The simulation component places students in the driver’s seat, testing their skills in a competitive environment while making key decisions about targeted social media ads, demographic selection, promotional strategies, and measuring key success indicators, while managing a marketing budget.
The knowledge gained in this course can assist entrepreneurs who want to start or infuse social media marketing into their businesses or to provide an in-demand skill set to those seeking promotions or a new job opportunity. Visit the course page for more information or to register.
