Montgomery County Issues COVID-19 Thanksgiving Guidance
With the number of coronavirus cases surging across the region once again, Montgomery County officials have issued COVID-19 Thanksgiving Guidance with the aim of making sure that everybody enjoys a safe and healthy holiday.
Following recommendations made by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, officials are saying that those who are sick, under isolation, or quarantined should stay home.
They are also asking residents to follow the usual social distancing recommendations. These include remaining separated by at least six feet, wearing a mask at all times, maintaining hand hygiene, and frequently cleaning and disinfecting commonly touched surfaces.
County officials have also provided risk levels for Thanksgiving Day activities and proposed some novel alternatives that could help keep everybody safe while still enjoying the day.
Low-risk activities include enjoying a small dinner with people who live in the same household, having a virtual dinner and sharing recipes with friends and family, shopping online, and watching sports events, parades, and movies from home.
Meanwhile, the high-risk activities include attending large indoor gatherings with people who are not part of your household, going shopping in crowded stores around the Thanksgiving date, and attending crowded parades.
Guidelines for holiday travel were also provided, with a recommendation to stay home if at all possible.
