Souderton Area School District is one of the few local districts that are offering full-time in-school learning from the start of the school year, writes Bob Keeler for the Souderton Independent.

According to Superintendent Frank Gallagher, things have been going “pretty well” since the school started.

“The kids are great,” said Gallagher at the Souderton Area School Board Facilities Committee. “They’re following the rules. They love being back in school.”

For the first several weeks, 4,610 students who signed on for in-class learning will follow a hybrid schedule before switching back to full in-class learning beginning on September 29. Meanwhile, around 1,620 students have opted for online classes through the Souderton Area Online Academy.

“We did run into some issues with forgetting passwords so some students had to come back to reset their password and we’re troubleshooting some issues,” Gallagher said.

He added that he has spoken to other superintendents in the area, who were very interested in how the approach was working out because “they would like to be doing the same.”
