LAST CHANCE to Donate to VFTCB Freedom from Hunger Food Drive

By

The VFTCB’s sixth annual Valley Forge Freedom from Hunger Food Drive has collected a total of $4,658.77, equating to 20,256 pounds of food.

Today is the last day to donate to The Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board’s sixth annual Freedom from Hunger Food Drive, the campaign that builds awareness around hunger in Montgomery County.

Due to COVID-19, this year’s drive has taken place solely online with a goal of collecting 15,000 pounds of food throughout the month of September.

The VFTCB hopes to exceed that goal given the increased demand for food due to the pandemic. Monetary contributions to purchase canned goods and other foods are being accepted instead of physical donations.

Once again, the VFTCB has partnered with MontCo Anti-Hunger Network, a coalition of local hunger relief organizations that offer resources to food networks that serve more than 80,000 people who are food insecure in the county.

So far, the Freedom from Hunger Food Drive has raised almost $2,000, which translates to several thousand pounds of food.

“We made a promise to serve our neighbors in need, and they need us now more than ever,” said Mike Bowman, President & CEO of the VFTCB. “COVID won’t stop us. We can fight this virus, and hunger, by coming together.”
