Three Sites in Chester County Among Region’s Eight Amazing Places to Camp
Three sites in Chester County are among eight amazing places to camp in the Philadelphia region, writes Melissa Jacobs for Main Line Today.
French Creek State Park in Elverson offers campers an opportunity to enjoy boating, fishing, hiking, and birdwatching. Pools and other amenities are open, but with crowd limitations and social-distancing requirements. The site is currently operating at 75 percent capacity with masks obligatory for common areas. The best way to secure a campsite is by booking well ahead of Oct. 31, when the park’s season ends.
Philadelphia/West Chester KOA in Coatesville is nestled along the Brandywine Creek in ChesLen Preserve, the largest privately owned, publicly accessible nature preserve in Chester County. While some of the common areas are currently closed, there is still plenty of land and water sports to enjoy. Groups are limited to 25, and masks are recommended.
Scenic Turtle Ridge in Coatesville has a 99 percent approval rating from campers on the HipCamp app. This 30-acre camp is set on a farm with goats, sheep, and chickens bordering Hibernia Park and the Brandywine River. Showers are not available, and the bathroom facilities are shared.
