Madeleine Dean, the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s 4th congressional district that includes the majority of Montgomery County, along with her son Harry give an honest account of his brutal battle with addiction in their joint memoir, writes Sam Gillette for People.

“Under Our Roof: A Son’s Battle for Recovery, a Mother’s Battle for Her Son” will be released early next year. The book focuses on Harry’s ten-year journey to sobriety, the one that ties into the larger addiction crisis in the country.

The book will be accompanied by the release of a children’s book, “You Are Always Loved,” also authored by the mother and son team.

“We are thrilled for this opportunity to share our story,” said the pair. “We hope our honest account of our family’s brutal battle with addiction and route to recovery provides readers with understanding, empathy, and – most of all – hope.”

They added that it is important to talk about addiction to combat the stigma that surrounds it, “so we figured we’d start at home by writing about our own story.”
