July Unkind to Pennsylvania’s Unemployment Recovery Rate

By

Pennsylvania is the state with the eighth-worst unemployment recovery rate in the nation in July, according to a new report by WalletHub.

To determine the ranking for States Whose July Unemployment Rates Are Bouncing Back Most, WalletHub compared the 50 states and District of Columbia based on four key metrics.

According to WalletHub, “We looked at the change in each state’s unemployment during the latest month for which we have data (July 2020) compared to July 2019 and January 2020. We also compared not seasonally adjusted continued claims in July 2020 to July 2019. Finally, we considered each state’s overall unemployment rate.”

The Keystone State recorded a 186.9 percent increase in unemployment from July 2020 compared with the same month of the previous year.

Compared to January 2020, the increase is 176.33 percent.
