Longwood Gardens is planning to invest between $150 million and $200 million into an expansion and renovation project that will include a new conservatory and dining and restaurant facility, as well as state-of-the-art classrooms and a library, writes Fran Maye for the Daily Local News.

The plan is currently going through the land development review process with the East Marlborough Township Planning Commission. Over the coming months, it will be reviewed by township supervisors, the historical commission, and the Environmental Advisory Commission.

If approved, the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

“We are excited about it,” said Paul Redman, president and CEO at Longwood Gardens. “It’s early in the process, and we are still in the due diligence phase.”

Currently, the design and development phases are being wrapped up, with plans to have the scope of the project finalized over the next two months.

The proposed new restaurant will offer dramatic views of the recently completed Main Fountain Gardens, which were completed in 2017 for more than $90 million.
