Whitemarsh Parks and Recreation Releases “In-Home Recreation Resources” Webpage

By

With coronavirus pandemic putting a screeching halt to the usually busy spring season for municipal parks and recreation departments in Montgomery County, many have resorted to finding new unique ways to engage residents and provide them with a way to pass some of the stay-at-home time.

To achieve this, Whitemarsh Township Parks and Recreation has released an “In-Home Recreation Resources” webpage. The new tool provides over 100 resources of things to do while staying at home. These are divided into tabs such as Arts, Crafts, and Education, Environment and Nature, and Movement and Exercise, among others.

The department also offers daily activity outreach each morning on Instagram. On Mondays, there is a Facebook post with the “We Are Whitemarsh” contest. The winner of the free movie tickets and a pizza donated by Tonelli’s Pizzeria is announced each Sunday.

To support local small businesses, the department has coordinated “Take-Out Tuesday’s” at local restaurants which offer Parks and Recreation specials on the day. The full list is available on the website.

Some of the other activities include the Senior Scoop newsletter on Wednesday aimed at keeping older adults engaged, kids Dance Party on Zoom on Fridays, and Virtual Escape Trips at the weekends.
