Arcadia University’s Criminal Justice and Corrections master’s degree and Montgomery County Community College’s Dental Hygiene associate’s degree are among the top-paying degrees for their field in the region, write Bob Fernandez, Erin Arvedlund, and Dain Saint for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

A new online search tool made available by The Philadelphia Inquirer allows students and parents to search thousands of academic degrees and compare the earnings graduates make in their first year out of school versus what they owed in federal loans.

In the first year after graduating, holders of Arcadia’s master’s degree earned $47,900, the second-highest income for this degree and major in the region, while incurring $41,000 in federal debt.

Meanwhile, the MCCC’s associate’s degree will net the holder $46,100 in the first year with $12,812 incurred in federal debt. This is among the lowest debt amounts for this degree and major.

It is also well above the median earnings for bachelor’s graduates in the three-state area, which were $34,700 for the last year, according to numbers provided by the federal Department of Education.
