Matthew Falcone, 36, of Green Lane, a Montgomery County Community College student, is one of only fifty students nationwide to be named a Coca-Cola Academic Team Silver Scholar for 2020.

The Coca-Cola Academic Team program is sponsored by Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. It selects students based on academic achievement, leadership, and participation in college and community service.

Falcone will receive a $1,250 scholarship as well as a commemorative medallion. Like many MCCC students, he balances work, school, and other responsibilities on his path to earning an associate’s degree in physical science.

Falcone works full time and mentors people in recovery. After graduation, he plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology Management.

Additionally, he is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.

“The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation has a long history of providing financial assistance to outstanding students at community colleges,” said Jane Hale Hopkins, President of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. “We are proud to partner with Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and make it possible for deserving students to achieve their educational goals.”

Silver Scholars will be recognized in local and statewide ceremonies as well as internationally during Phi Theta Kappa’s virtual annual convention, PTK Catalyst.
