Montgomery County COVID-19 Morning Update – March 23rd
On Sunday, Montgomery County officials reported the first death of a county resident from COVID-19. The 72-year-old male, who died Saturday, resided in Abington Township and had been hospitalized for several days.
Based on the information found on the County’s COVID-19 dashboard as well as press release issued by the commissioners Sunday afternoon, here is quick snapshot of the spread of coronavirus across Montgomery County.
There were 33 new positive Montgomery County COVID-19 cases reported on Sunday. These positive individuals are from 14 municipalities, four of which are reporting their first cases.
A breakdown of Sunday’s reported new positive cases follows:
- Age Range: 27 to 77
- Average Age: 51.8
- Age Brackets: (2) 20 – 29, (6) 30 – 39, (5) 40 – 49, (10) 50 – 59, (6) 60 – 69, (4) 70 – 79
- Gender: 15 females, 18 males
- Hospitalized: (16) No, (16) Unknown, (1) Yes
The 33 new positive cases brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 110 countywide.
Of those 110 confirmed cases countywide, 59 are male, 51 are female.
The County’s total number of reported cases represent 23-percent of the 479 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases across Pennsylvania.
By comparison, as of noon Sunday, the number of confirmed cases in neighboring and surrounding counties continues to trend lower:

The County’s 110 COVID-19 cases are spread across all ages with the youngest patient being a 1 year-old Royersford boy and the oldest patient, a 95 year-old Cheltenham man.
Countywide, the average age of residents with Coronavirus is just under 49 years-old, up one percentage point since Saturday.
Incidents of COVID-19 are spread across all sections of Montgomery County.

More than 825 individuals have registered, and approximately 680 individuals were expected to be tested by the end of the day Sunday at the Montgomery County COVID-19 drive-through testing site. The center, based on Temple University’s Ambler Campus, began testing individuals that meet the required criteria Saturday morning.
