Louis Knight, a singer from Lower Merion, will be featured in the premiere episode of the new season of the ABC hit show “American Idol,” writes Julia Hatmaker for the Penn Live Patriot-News.

Knight will audition in front of the celebrity judging panel. This year it features singers Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. For his part of the audition, Knight will play the piano.

Whether he is able to make the cut and move further on in the competition will not be known until after the episode airs.

The premiere episode will air on ABC at 8 p.m. Feb. 16, but it can also be followed on Hulu Live TV in real time.

The show is hosted by Ryan Seacrest, while Bobby Bones acts as an in-house mentor.

And while Pennsylvania contestants have done relatively well in many seasons of the show, none have yet to come out as their season’s winners. It remains to be seen if Knight is going to be the first American Idol to hail from the Keystone State.
