The Norristown Area Census Office will hold a major Census 2020 hiring event on Jan. 23 at the Montgomery County OIC, 1101 Arch Street, Norristown, for part-time positions that pay up to $27 per hour.

The event will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. The recruiters are looking for around 3,000 applications to fill various census positions in Montgomery County. The jobs provide flexible hours, paid training, and weekly paychecks.

Applicants will play a crucial role in ensuring that everybody in Montgomery County is counted in 2020.

This is of key importance, as in the last census, Pennsylvania had the second-highest rate of forfeited funds per resident due to undercounted individuals.

If only five percent of people are not counted in 2020, Montgomery County could lose $72,336,780 annually in critical funding for its schools, infrastructure, Medicaid, and numerous other important programs.

Currently, there is the biggest need for census takers to work in their communities and go door-to-door to collect responses from people who do not respond online, by phone, or by mail.

For more information about the event, contact Daniel Lizette, Area Census Operations Manager, at Daniel.M.Lizette@2020Census.Gov or 484-612-6528.
