For Second Year in Row, Manor College Receives ‘It’s On Us’ Grant to Fight Sexual Assault
For the second year in a row, Manor College in Jenkintown has received the “It’s On Us” grant, a national initiative aimed at combating sexual assault, according to a staff report from the Manor College News.
The initiative is championed by President Barack Obama and Gov. Tom Wolf, the later of whom established “It’s On Us PA,” the first statewide campaign in the nation, four years ago.
Most recently, the campaign awarded almost $1 million in grants to 36 colleges and universities, including Manor College.
The programs financed with this grant will raise awareness about, and work on stopping, sexual assault. These will be both interactive and informative.
Manor College initiatives will include “The Clothesline Project” and self-defense classes, among others. The institution will also implement several educational forums, including “Sex Signals” and Bystander Intervention workshops.
“Receiving the Governor’s ‘It’s On Us’ grant for a second year is both an honor and a blessing,” said Vice President of Student Affairs, Allison Mootz. “With the continued support, the College will be able to continue providing quality training and education to the students and staff of Manor College.”
