As a member of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Madeleine Dean is one of the Pennsylvania Congresswomen poised to shape the fate of President Trump in the impeachment proceedings, writes Candy Woodall for the USA Today.

Dean was reelected during the Pink Wave in 2018, when Pennsylvania elected four women to the Congress for the first time.

Another member of the “Fab Four,” as they call themselves, Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, is vice-chair of the House Judiciary Committee.

Dean said the committee is closely following the ongoing House Intelligence Committee hearings.

“This is the right step to determine whether sufficient grounds exist to move forward with articles of impeachment,” she said. “The American people will hear directly from witnesses in an open setting -where the President and his counsel will have ample opportunity to state their case.”

She and Scanlon both agree that what is currently happening is a sobering moment in the nation’s history.

“Our goals are simple: to get to the truth, and to ensure that this investigation is conducted in a manner befitting its gravity,” said Dean.
