Field of Dreams Is Being Brought to Life, And Blue Bell-Based BrightView Will Help Do It
MLB is building the Field of Dreams, a new stadium that will replace the iconic ball field immortalized in the 1989 Kevin Costner movie of the same name, and Blue Bell-based BrightView is helping bring it to life, writes Thomas Friestad for The Gazette.
BrightView has already started construction on the 8,000-seat stadium in Dyersville, Iowa, that will welcome the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees for the first major league baseball game at the Field of Dreams in August.
According to Murray Cook, president of BrightView’s sports turf division, workers are currently grading the site and installing drainage systems.
The company is hoping that by next spring it will have finished laying sod for the field.
The buildings are expected to follow in June and will include the stadium, concession stands, baseball dugouts, and training facilities, as well as media workspaces.
“We’ve been successful in building these fields pretty quickly, and we’re in good shape,” said Cook. “We’re creating this venue in Iowa, and we’re bringing in a lot of folks around the state here to help us build it.”
