Eight of 10 Richest People in the World Are American

The United States has no shortage of billionaires, as eight out of the 10 richest people in the world are American, according to the latest Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Also, Americans hold 14 of the Top 20 spots on the list.

Currently, the richest person in the world is Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, whose total net worth is $111 billion.

He is followed by Bill Gates, who co-founded Microsoft, at $109 billion.

The Top five is rounded out by French businessman Bernard Arnault, Warren Buffett, and Mark Zuckerberg.

The Delaware Valley has a representative on the list of the 500 richest people in the world. Mary Malone, who lives in Chester County, checked in at No. 435 with $4.7 billion in total net worth. Malone is Campbell Soup’s largest shareholder.
