The development of the new, $43 million Willow Grove YMCA that will replace the Abington and Hatboro facilities is a month away from completion, writes Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The project is the latest step in the Greater Philadelphia YMCA’s efforts to build new and to upgrade existing facilities across the region. This should help solidify its real estate footprint and its role in serving nearby communities.
The 98,000-square-foot facility is being constructed on 42 acres of the former Willow Grove Day Camp. YMCA projects that around 20,000 people will use the new facility.
The Willow Grove location will offer the usual YMCA services, such as child care, pool, basketball court, group exercises, and a fitness center. Its operations will also include a day camp and an outdoor pool that will be constructed at a later date.
The lobby of the new facility is going to be designed as a common area that can be used for meetings, working on laptops, or just as a general gathering area. Both members and non-members who are part of the community will be able to use this area.
