CSL Behring has room to spare in new King of Prussia headquarters

CSL Behring in King of Prussia is behind HEMGENIX, the first FDA-approved gene therapy transforming life for hemophilia patients.

The flip is complete. And CSL Behring now has a new home at 500 North Gulph Road in King of Prussia.

Last year Brandywine Realty Trust began the major work of an almost $30 million  job of gutting, renovating and updating the building that has stood since 1979. That work is complete and CSL Behring, a biopharmaceutical company, moved into the 100,820-square-foot structure, writes Natalie Kostelni of the Philadelphia Business Journal.

CSL Behring now has 1,000 employees working in the King of Prussia area, stretching from First Avenue and North Gulph Road. That number is up 300 employees six years ago. The company is expected to continue at its current growth rate of 10 to 15 percent, which was the catalyst for the need for bigger headquarters.

Beginning two years ago, CSL Behring enlisted Karen Palecko-Bates, a principal at Meyer Design Inc., to help assess its space. The company had a “real estate problem,” Palecko-Bates said. Even with making space in its First Avenue buildings more efficient — reducing the amount of square feet per person — the company would run out of space in three years, she said.
