Celebrate National Pizza Day with craft pizza cocktails & half-off pies at Northbound Restaurant

A Detroit-style pie is a square pizza with a thick and crunchy focaccia-style crust with toppings and cheese baked into it and the sauce on top.

Arguably better than Christmas, National Pizza Day (Saturday, February 9) is the day we set aside our differences and honor the holy trinity of cheese, sauce and crust in perfect harmony.

This year, Northbound Restaurant (2 W Broad Street, Souderton, PA) is celebrating with a specialty one-day-only Pizza Martini ($11), crafted with basil-infused Boardroom vodka, tomato and shallot water, pickled tomato and olive oil, as well as a pizza du jour ($13) with garlic cream, caramelized onions and peppers, crispy fried prosciutto and topped with a balsamic reduction.

If you order the Pizza Martini on National Pizza Day, you’ll receive 50% off the pizza of your choice! Options include cheese ($13), pepperoni ($14), vegetable ($14), and du jour (description above).

For the uninitiated, a Detroit-style pie is a square pizza with a thick and crunchy focaccia-style crust with toppings and cheese baked into it and the sauce on top, preventing saturation of the crust and maintaining its signature crunchiness. This pie has a crispy on the outside, light and airy on the inside texture that sets it apart from your standard Chicago or New York-style pizzas.
