Forty-six Ambler Savings Bank employees participated in the Bank’s first ever company-wide Biggest Loser-style competition this fall, all with the intent to create a healthier workplace, healthier bodies, and raise money for Simon’s Heart.
Ambler Savings Bank pledged that for every pound lost, they would donate $2 to Simon’s Heart, a Montgomery County based non-profit that screens students and children for heart conditions and raises awareness about the warning signs and conditions that lead to sudden cardiac arrest and death in children.

The Bank’s employees weighed in, losing a cumulative 201 pounds. The winner of the competition, Jennifer Rossi, Commercial Lending Specialist, presented the check for $402 to Darren Sudman, Founder and CEO of Simon’s Heart.
“We are grateful to our friends at Ambler Savings Bank for choosing Simon’s Heart as the beneficiary of their Biggest Loser contest,” said Sudman. “Every good deed done in Simon’s memory helps us help protect more children from the risk of sudden cardiac arrest and death. The generosity of the employees at Ambler Savings Bank will help us protect hearts and save lives.”
Simon’s Heart’s mission is to save the life of one child, and then another, by raising awareness about the warning signs and conditions that lead to sudden cardiac arrest and death in children. Simon’s Heart has provided free heart screenings to 17,829 students. Of those tested, 125 discovered heart conditions.
Simon’s Heart was the driving force behind the passage of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act in Pennsylvania, the first law in the country to protect student athletes from sudden cardiac arrest. This law has been passed in eleven other states as well. It also operates GotAED.org, a crowdfunding site dedicated to getting AED devices into places where kids learn and play, and has distributed 90+ AEDs.
