USTN announced it would be letting go 118 employees at its Malvern headquarters and closing that location.

Just a few weeks ago it was reported that United States Traffic Network was winding down operations, seemingly due to its legal struggles with Bala-Cyndwyd based Entercom. Now, it was announced that USTN will lay off 118 employees and close its Malvern headquarters.

“United States Traffic Network … has come to the difficult decision to close its Malvern, Pa. office,” USTN CEO Ivan Shulman said in a letter that accompanied a WARN notice filed with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.“We wish that this were not the outcome, but it is the reality of our current situation. As a result, we regret to inform you that we will be laying off all employees who report to this facility on October 20, 2018, or within 14 days thereafter. After that date, there may be some minimum number of employees retained in order to wind down operations.”

either Shulman nor a USTN spokeswoman could be immediately reached for comment. The company has several other locations and additional employees, writes Jeff Blumenthal in the Philadelphia Business Journal.

USTN has contracted with radio station operators to acquire a significant amount of on-air traffic report inventory. It then resold the inventory to advertisers.

Reports late last month from various radio industry trade publications said that USTN ended its radio traffic services on Aug. 24, letting go of most of the radio sales staff and on-air anchors. It reportedly informed the staff in an Aug. 21 conference call. USTN, also known as Radiate Media, will continue to service television stations.
