On behalf of the Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board staff and Board of Directors, I would like to say merci and thank you to all the people who made it possible for Cirque du Soleil’s Big Top show VOLTA to come to Montgomery County this summer!

We’re so honored that the first-ever Cirque du Soleil show to visit Oaks, and the group’s only performance in the Philadelphia region this year, enticed an astounding crowd – tens of thousands of people – during its six-week run in the 2,500-seat theater. But, it’s not hard to attract world-class events with all that Montco has to offer, from 1,600 restaurants, more than 200 arts attractions, 75 hotels, 53 golf courses, almost 100 miles of trails, the best shopping in the country, and tons of family-friendly attractions!

Just as with any production, there were so many wonderful people behind the scenes in the Montgomery County community who made this event successful; and we are beyond grateful!

First, to the entire Cirque du Soleil team in Montreal, and VOLTA cast and crew: you have no idea what it meant for us to have a show of such high caliber – Cirque’s 41st original production– showcasing outstanding acrobatics and a striking score right here in Montco. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with all of you, and an even bigger joy to watch you “blaze your own trail and find your free!” Thanks to all the fine folks at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks for hosting the show, and being so welcoming and accommodating, proving why Montgomery County is one of the best counties in Pennsylvania!

To the Montgomery County Commissioners – Chair, Dr. Valerie Arkoosh, Vice Chair, Kenneth Lawrence, Jr., and Commissioner Joseph Gale: thank you for your continued support of tourism, and our mission, especially the promotion of our arts attractions through our Arts Montco brand.

Thank you to the other members in our community for their willingness and cooperation in not only making sure this show happened, but also remained safe for all those involved: PECO, the Upper Providence Board of Supervisors, the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety and local EMS, fire, and law enforcement departments.

Last, but certainly not least, thanks to our hotel, restaurant, and attraction partners for celebrating and embracing this production with open arms, and in some cases, offering special deals for VOLTA ticket holders. Special thanks the Oaks business community, Mistral Restaurant, the King of Prussia Mall, Founding Farmers Restaurant in King of Prussia Town Center, Sullivan’s Steakhouse in King of Prussia, Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown, and LEGOLAND Discovery Center in the Plymouth Meeting Mall!

Together, you have shown what it means to Make It Montco, and this is just the beginning of our efforts to bring world-class entertainment to Montgomery County. We’re so excited for future opportunities to welcome Cirque du Soleil back to our community.

Merci beaucoup and thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Mike Bowman,  President & CEO Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board
