Plymouth Meeting Mall will add Dick’s Sporting Good, Edge Fitness and Burlington to its lineup
The space occupied by the now-closed Macy’s will soon be filled — and will some pretty big names. Burlington, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Edge Fitness have signed on to open in the Plymouth Meeting Mall.
The space that formerly housed the department store has been available since March 2017, and Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust, which owns the mall and 21 others, has been looking for tenants that would meet shoppers’ need for diverse retail and entertainment. PREIT expects Burlington, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Edge Fitness to open in spring 2019, and the company “is also negotiating leases with an arts-and-crafts purveyor and a craft brewery,” it said in a news release announcing the new tenants, writes Ellie Silverman in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Most of the stores in the mall are related to food and entertainment, and PREIT hopes to diversify and attract tenants that provide “experiences and lifestyle options,” according to a press release.
“It gave us an opportunity to rethink what could populate that anchor box,” PREIT CEO Joseph F. Coradino said, referring to Macy’s closing. “I don’t think there’s a cookie-cutter solution anymore to a property. We’ve got to step back, be creative, think about the demographics and psychographics and what the customers are getting or not getting, and what retailers you can bring to the market that are new and unique and restaurants that will be unique.”
